A fresh week of NHL action gets going tonight, and with a Stanley Cup rematch and two brothers playing against each other, some of the more interesting narratives also open up opportunity for player prop bets. We've got three for this fine Monday.
Both Colorado and Tampa Bay have been getting solid offensive production of late, and in this rematch of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, I lean the over.
Rather than focus in on the total, I prefer to pair a few of the more consistent point producers for these respective squads.
Makar has 19 points in his last 10 games, 15 in his last eight at home and seven in his last five vs. Tampa Bay. Point has 19 points in his last 11 games, 15 in his last six on the road and seven in his last six against the Avalanche.
When scanning the night's action, the clearest sign of power-play goals coming is in this New York Rangers vs. Buffalo Sabres game. Over the last 20 days, the Rangers' PP rate of 27.3% ranks seventh best in the NHL, while Buffalo's penalty kill rate of 77.8% is the 10th-worst.
New York has found a PP goal in eight of its last 10 against Buffalo, making this read seem all the stronger heading into tonight.
I say all this because Erik Gustafsson is on the top power-play unit for the Rangers with Adam Fox still sidelined. He has nine assists in his last nine games, four of which have come on the power play.
Knowing that PP element exists makes me like the value we're getting here on Gustafsson to notch an apple.
This is not scientific at all, I just think it's borderline irresponsible to not at least sprinkle on the Tkachuk brothers both scoring when they play each other. Yes, that really is the end of my analysis on this one.
