Washington Football Team releases former Pro Bowl RB Lamar Miller

The Washington Football Team released former Pro Bowl running back Lamar Miller on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Miller hasn't had a rushing attempt since he was a member of the Houston Texans in 2018. He missed the 2019 season with a torn ACL and appeared in only one game with the Chicago Bears in 2020, catching two passes for six yards.

Washington signed Miller off the Bears practice squad in December 2020, and he agreed to a one-year deal with the team in March 2021.

Before tearing his ACL, Miller was a productive running back for the Texans and Miami Dolphins. He ran for 800-plus yards in six straight seasons and surpassed 1,000 yards in two of those campaigns.

Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic are projected to be Washington's top two running backs this season, with Peyton Barber also set to see some time.
