Report: Saints sign veteran RB Lamar Miller to practice squad

Coming out of their bye, the New Orleans Saints will enter this week's slate of practices ahead of their Week 7 "Monday Night Football" showdown against the Seattle Seahawks with a new face in the backfield.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints are bringing in eight-year pro Lamar Miller to join the practice squad.

The 3-2 Saints already have one of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL in Alvin Kamara, and there's no guarantee that Miller will ever get the call up for game duty, but the 30-year-old will bring in a veteran presence who has a Pro Bowl nod and two 1,000-yard rushing seasons to his credit. A fourth-round selection during the 2012 NFL Draft, Miller spent the first four years of his career with the Miami Dolphins.

After appearing in 13 games during his rookie season, Miller played in all 16 contests in each of his next three seasons with the Dolphins, starting all but one of them. The Miami native and former University of Miami Hurricanes back went for at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage in five straight campaigns from 2014 through 2018, but he tore his ACL during the 2019 preseason and missed the entire regular season.

Miller spent 2016, 2017 and 2018 with the Houston Texans and most recently played one game with the Chicago Bears in 2020.
