Bears' David Montgomery ruled out for 'MNF' vs. Vikings with concussion

The Chicago Bears will have to go to work on Monday without their top running back.

Chicago announced Saturday that David Montgomery has been ruled out for the team's "Monday Night Football" matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy confirmed earlier in the week that Montgomery suffered a concussion in Chicago's 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The 23-year-old is the Bears' leading rusher this season with 131 carries for 472 yards.

With Montgomery officially ruled out, converted wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who is averaging three yards per carry this season, could be in line to take his place.

The only other running backs on the Bears' roster are Ryan Nall and undrafted rookie Artavis Pierce. Chicago also has former Pro Bowler Lamar Miller on their practice squad, who Nagy said is an option for Monday's game.
