Watch: Rob Gronkowski delivers epic first pitch ahead of Red Sox-Guardians game

Boston Red Sox baseball at Fenway Park on Marathon Monday and Patriots' Day is a well-known tradition around Beantown.

The Red Sox brought in New England Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski for the first pitch before Monday's home game against the Cleveland Guardians and his opening delivery from the mound was anything but traditional.

If anyone was going to do what the future Hall of Fame tight end did with his "pitch," though, Gronk would be the one.

Spiking a baseball rather than a football with such force directly into the mound was a risky move, as an arm injury could've easily occurred.

It looks like the five-time Pro Bowler powered through the epic moment, though, to the delight of the Fenway faithful.

Gronkowski may shipped it out of Boston with quarterback Tom Brady for his final two NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but both Gronk and TB12 are still beloved by many Red Sox fans.

Manager Alex Cora is hoping that No. 87's appearance can keep the good times going for his club, as Boston is off to a better-than-expected 9-7 start in 2024.
