It's a Wrap
Last week I was invited to appear on the show Inside MMA, hosted by Bas Rutten and Kenny Rice, as a guest with Gina Carano & Scott Casber. Bas made me laugh as always because of his crazy personality, that, by the way, I love so much. There were a lot of conversations talking about other fights and other organizations, but because I don't really watch MMA so much in my time off after training, I was not able to stay on the conversation. Even though I'm an MMA fighter, when I'm not training I like to do other things than just MMA stuff. But my favorite part was when they acted like they put a GPS on me and showed my travels on a map.
Later I went in Hollywood, CA to shoot a movie, which was pretty cool. I didn't realize how much work filming a scene was - it took me an entire day to film four scenes. The director of the movie, Hector Echavarria, has been a great mentor and a huge help for me because it was the first time that I was doing something like this. He explained to me that acting was like fighting you need to focus on your role and what you need to do and forget about everything else around you being "in the zone". Even though I believe I'm a way better fighter than I am as an actor, I really enjoyed my experience and look forward to do it again.
During the filming of the movie I shot a scene where I'm fighting again Fabiano Iha, a former UFC veteran. It was not his first experience on the filming of a movie, so both he and Hector showed me how to throw a punch and a kick for the camera. It is totally different than what you learn at a dojo. If I would use the same technique in a fight, I would never be world champion it would telegraph too much. But in front of the camera, it looks great.
While there, I got a taste of the L.A. when I went to a launch party for a new single about to be released. It was pretty entertaining and different from what I'm used to in Montreal. The only bad news about this trip is that I came back home with a bad cold, probably because of my lack of sleep. Sorry for the short entry, but I'm sure after a good night of sleep, tomorrow I will feel better.

I loved Inside MMA, and that was great when they did the GPS thing, but the funniest part was when you didn't realize Gina was "Crush". You came off humble and professional as always man.
So what's this movie about? Do you have a small or large role? Hope you kick butt in it man. -
PS- Gina Carano is hott! she would make a great training partner, if you know what i mean....
-
I just wanted to reiterate exactly what Luca said! I was cracking up too when you didn't realize who Gina was...but indeed innocuous and adept throughout the show.
Hope you take care of that cold and then BJ Penn after that!
Good Luck! -
I just wanted to add this photo...I had these made a while back! Can you tell Im a huge fan???

-
cool! WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE MOVIE AND WHEN IS IT COMING OUT ????

Congrats on the acting job Georges!! I know you will be great. Just do me one favor if the ask you to be the next "Walker Texas Ranger" decline. lmao!! You're the man Georges!!
-
I watched part of Inside MMA when you appeared...I have yet to finish it, but I was with you on the Gina being "Crush" thing. I even watched American Gladiator last season and knew "Crush" looked very familiar!! Keep us poated on your movie release date. Hope your feeling better Georges : ) XOXO
-
GSP in the movies... You always did remind me of Jean Claude Van Damme. You should do a re-make of Kick Boxer. That was my favorite. You could film in Thailand...
-
Thanks for the update, and feel better soon. :)
-
What do you think about Gina Carano, isn't she hot and cute? :)
I wish you quick recover. -
I too recently came down with a cold, and I can't seem to get over it. =/
I hope you feel better soon, the world needs you.
Cheers! -

GSP is slated to appear in the movie "Death Warrior" with Anderson Silva and Rampage. You can read more about it here:

I hope GSP kicks both their butts in the movie.

I loved the show Georges. It looked like u were looking at the scrren for a bit when u picked crush. Do think Fedor can beat Randy? i know u said to u he is the best p4p fighter.

Georges, try not to get type-cast as a martial artist. You want to be more well rounded - like, say, Tom Hanks. Kidding, but you as Scarface, that would be cool. "Meet my little fren!" followed by machine gun fire, a spinning back kick, and a superman punch from off the balcony.
The bad cold is probably the flu. Try to remember what you ate 24 hours before coming down with the illness. It may have been some undercooked meat or fish or if you shared a drink with someone. Basically you most likely ingested a virus. I used to get colds all the time, all my life - once every two weeks and the flu once every 3 months. Then I changed my diet totally, and I never got even sniffles for one year. Later, I traveled to India and after 2 weeks of no issues, I accidentally got some of the tap water into my nasal cavity while in the shower. I was trying to blow the pollution out by running some water through the nasal passages, only to have some of it get into my system. 24 hours later, flu like symptoms. My one year streak of no colds was over. It took 6 full days of drinking coconut water to flush that virus out. The water in India is some of the funkiest on the planet. That's why they cook the crap out of their food and spice it up heavy - to kill and water borne bacteria. I got sick 2 more times after that before recognizing the pattern. Another time it was caused by marinated mushrooms at an organic market - they that had gone bad in the Miami heat. A girl who ate the same had to be hospitalized. I flushed it out with coconut water in 3 days, but it was still painful. The other time, I ate some not so fresh fish that I "undercooked" myself. All three cases, I got flu like symptoms within 24 hours. That's when I recognized the pattern. The cold and flu issues I had all my life, were caused by ingesting some bacteria that my immune system couldn't handle. My diet had improved but still it was no match for a serious bug. So I became more cautious about not eating undercooked food when eating out, and that was the end of it. Two years, nothing. Sleepless nights and all. Even though I travel between warm and cold climates regularly, I no longer get sick. You can try to over dose on vitamin C or take Echinacea from the healthful stores. You can also try to drink a bottle of prune juice on an empty stomach too. The idea being to flush out the digestive track and the virus along with it. Stay at home with this approach. Rest also speeds up recovery, so don't be "Rush" for a few days, or else it will just drag on.
You say you like chess: check out "The Game of the Century" between Bobby Fischer vs. Donald Byrne. It will blow your mind.

Hey Georges:
You always impress me. Way to be honest during the show, and acknowledging that Fedor is the best.
Hope you get better fast. -
I always watch Inside MMA and was so excited to see you on there Friday. I have to agree with the comments above.. It was really funny when you didn't know which American Gladiator was Gina... but hey i wouldn't know either because I don't watch the show! I'm sure you did awesome in your acting part! I hope you feel better with your cold! I just want to say thank you again for taking the time out and keeping your fans posted with your blogs! I look forward to reading them.

George, hi my name is Leandro Borges. Born and raized in Rio de Janeiro. Now residing in San Diego. I fought Jiu Jitsu for many years and made many friends. This letter is actually not for me, but for a good friend who trained with me for so long. His name is Pedro (Feijao his nick name) he used to be the best fighter we had from white belt till purple belt. Won many championships and some free style fights. Great guy, humble, great family and also had a dream to become an Octagon fighter. Everything went great until one day trainning Feijao at the age of 23 felt with his back and neck at the Dojo in a bad way. He could not move, his spine was hurt but ok. Doctors took him to surgery and because of a mistake. Our Feijao became tetraplegic. Despite of our grief and sorrow to loose a fighter in our gym. Feijao took another fight out of the tatame, the fight to live and never give up! He is a true warrior!!! Never heard a sad comment or a grief come out of his mouth!!!
There is only moments when he is watching UFC that silent tears roll throught his eyes! You are his most favorite fighter and with great effort by watching you fight he is able to smile and forget the troubles!
I would like to honor that kid! That man who took with great strength a match that nobody is prepared for! In next Christmas I would like to give him your autograph. Thank you very much for reading my comment! God Bless you! -
Hi! These is very sad! I hope you can give him what you have in mind. He is blessed to have a friend such as you and people like you gives him strength to go one. Good bless you and your friend!
-
Hey GSP Too Cool!!! Did you get a chance to work with Rampage or Anderson Silva? What was that like I wonder? you know despite the fact you all share the same sport I can't really remember seeing you with or around either athlete. Look forward to seeing you in you first role and I hope your blessed with many many more. Get well soon!
-
Cant wait to see you in a movie. But most definitely cant wait to see you fight again. Guess it is going up against BJ Penn again. Should be a good one. By the way have you ever thought about going up a weight class? It is only 5 more pounds and I think there would be some really good contenders there for you. Well get lots of rest and chicken noodle soup to get rid of that cold and flu. Had it here a week ago, that time of year again. Take care

-
You were great on Inside MMA , such a charmer:) Congrats on the movie! Another awesome post! Keep 'em coming- we love these!
-
hey mr st. pierre,
i think you are a great ambassador to not only mma, but canada in general. i know your first loyalty is to quebec, but i hope you know that all canadians love and respect you. your attitude, politeness, modesty and honesty make all canadians look good and look up to you. we very rarily have athletes who can compete with the rest of the world, much less dominate such as you have. when you win, all of canada wins and when you lose, all of canada feels you loss. with or without a belt, you are a true champion. thank you for continuing to entertain, impress and be a positive example for all canadians.
