Welcome - Post UFC 87
Welcome everybody to my official & only blog. You can know about what I'm doing by following me here. Last week I met some great people in Minnesota. One of them was Chef John working at Murray's restaurant, a place where they have the best steak that I have eaten in my life. By the way I want to wish him all my wishes for his marriage. I actually ate at Murray's every meal that I could because John was there to cook for us a special meal without sodium or carbs. This helped me have one of the easiest weight cuts I've ever had in my life. The press conference was very special for me because it was in the biggest mall in North America, and it impressed me a lot. I thought it was a good idea for the UFC to make it happen there. It was awesome because the fans could see it live, which is not possible normally because it's someplace close for just the reporters. I would like to say thanks to all the fans in Minneapolis because I was very well received as if I was one of their hometown fighters. When I finished losing all my weight, I realized I dropped too much. Normally I like to hit 170 on the nose, and this time I actually went too far because my scale was off. It didn't hurt me at all. When I realized I was actually 169, my trainer Firas Zahabi gave me a small packet of sugar to start putting carbs back in my body. After the weigh-ins, I headed straight to Bellanote's for a big plate of pasta. I was joined by all my friends who came to see me fight, and also my trainers & my manager. It was the last meal before my fight where I allowed myself to be with people outside of my cornermen. During the fight at one point they were chanting GSP, and it touched me and gave me more drive to beat Jon Fitch. I even have more respect for Jon Fitch right now, I knew he was tough, but not as tough as he proved to be. I know he's got a heart of a champion and I'm sure we'll have the opportunity to meet another time in the Octagon. I'm glad that I have been able to succeed where I failed last year by my first title defense. After the fight I was so tired that I didn't even go out, I just wanted to hang out with my friends that came down to watch me fight, and also, with my team and manager. I'm glad that I went 5 rounds with Jon Fitch because it gave me a lot of Octagon experience and a lot of confidence in myself. Next time I'm in a war, I will know without a doubt that I can push myself for 5 5-minute rounds. A lot of people are surprised because I'm at BJ Penn for coming inside the Octagon during my little moment of glory after the fight. But I'm a fighter, and it comes with the job of fighting and I know BJ wanted to have a shot at the title and as a matter of fact I'm not angry at him to have that. I actually like him. I do realize what I got in my hands. I'm the UFC World Welterweight Champion and I plan to stay there for a long time.

There is a picture of you fighting BJ penn where you look as if you are bloodied and hurt, but in your eyes, one can see the warrior spirit that burns in you. To me, that is the most inspirational sports picture I have ever seen. All the training, dedication, and committment is shown in this picture.
I appreciate the sacrifice and personal journey you must have made to ne what you are, and I thank you for showing me what can be accomplished by a man with a dream and burning desire to achieve that dream.

I'm in Vancouver to study English from Japan and now learning brazilian jiujitsu as well.
When I saw UFC87 that you fought agaist Jon FItch, I decided to learn it because I was amazed from your fight. I can't wait to see your next fight that might be vs BJ penn. I really hope you will win and good luck! If possible, I would like you to fight against Takanori Gomi in the future. This is my dream fight. I am Japanese but I will cheer for you!! If I run into you somewhere, do you mind if I ask you to take a pic of you? I'm sorry, my English is so poor.

Bonjour, I would be happy simply happy to know that you read this little note. You are Special in every way. I think that you are a Soulfighter and I greatly admire your simplicity while at the same time being struck by the tiger in you. I have made up my mind that whether you win or lose you will always my favourite fighter, to watch and admire (and even to love :). I am fan of yours, not because of your skills as much but because you really stand out as a good person too! - in my eyes. Don't let this world corrupt you because I know for sure some are waitingto do it to you. Peace and love. I am with you all the way) Aurvoir, Bon Change Toujours!!

I am not GSP, but I would suggest trying out wrestling, ju jitsu, and boxing/muai thai. Train hard and get well versed in all of those aspects and you can be great. Look at Georges, he trains hard as hell, but not only that, he trains with people all around the world. So he has been able to implement the strengths of other fighters into his game and become, in my opinion, the most well rounded fighter in mma today. I know thats a bold statement, but Georges is my hero. Anyway, nowadays you can find gyms that teach classes in all the aspects of mixed martial arts. Good luck to you man I hope to fight you one day in the UFC. (if we get there :>)

I've been coaching for a long time. I've seen a ton of great talent, and I've seen some crazy battles between athletes/teams. Make sure you mind is strong. BJ has said a lot in those videos, at the conference etc. Mentally, don't get suckered in, don't follow him, and don't get thrown off by his distractions. You're bigger, stronger, faster, and more talented then him. But he is a mental distractor, and that's all he's got. 90% is mental, 10% is the fight. Stick to what you do best, and you'll demolish him. Best of luck, bon chance, et tap sa yeul !!!

That vaseline crap is growing day after day. Perhaps the fact that I am one of your few million fans who
believe that you are the best fighter in your weight class, I really don't feel too good about those news.
As your name is well know all over the world, people will never miss a chance to attack you. Just like
what Forrest said in his interview before his last title fight, it feels like wearing a target on you 24/7.
People complaint about everything. Perhaps on your next fight, part of your game plan may have to
be how to shut everyone up so that people who dislike you are unable to have any doubts with your
capability.

Great fight Saturday, I think you proved who was the stonger, more skilled, and smarter fighter, we were not suprised to see you dominate. Try to stay out of a war of words about this Vaseline thing and it will go away. One big reason you are a great fighter and a fan favorite is because you don't blame others for a loss. BJ and his camp can't help themselves. On one of the prefight shows BJ said that when a fighter enters the ring he is forced to be honest with himself and when he does, he almost becomes "two people". I think he's telling the truth, but, why does he become "two people" just before the fight? It's because HE does't even believe whats coming out of his own mouth before a fight, its obvious he has issues. Keep focused on your goals and watch your back i.e. Dana White and the UFC. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Once again, way to go
